How can researchers access your archives and collections?

Researchers can access our archives and study collections for academic purposes by submitting a formal request with research proposal to research@mau.ccf.gov.lk. Access is granted based on the nature of research and availability of resources. We recommend contacting us at least one month in advance of your planned visit.

I found something that might be of archaeological interest underwater. What should I do?

If you discover what appears to be archaeological material underwater, it's important not to disturb or remove it. Please note the location (GPS coordinates if possible), take photographs if safe to do so, and report your finding to MAU by email or phone. Under Sri Lankan law, all underwater cultural heritage is protected, and unauthorized collection is prohibited.

Do you offer educational programs for schools?

Yes, we offer educational programs tailored for different age groups including museum tours, workshops, and presentations. Schools can arrange educational visits by contacting education@mau.ccf.gov.lk with at least two weeks' notice. We also provide educational resources for teachers on our website.
